Pixelated F-Stops: Chapel in the Hills

Because I've got nothing foodie, Lilly or craft related I'm posting the last in the series of my pictures from the Chapel in the Hills.

I like the over lighting in this one, but then it's no secret I'm easily impressed. I just think the dark outline of the dragon's head against the sun and clear sky is pretty darn nifty. Also note the nail like spike coming off his nose...it's the lightening rod, each of the four dragons and the tip top cross have one. Apparently the Chapel is quite the lightening magnet. These little rods are connected to copper wire that is run across the roof, through an insulated space in a column and down to copper spikes hidden under the flagstone sidewalk; all in order to keep the lightening from striking the dry timber of the roof and starting a fire. (And yes, a kindly elderly tour guide guy was more than happy to expunge upon this for the better part of an hour...extra bonus, he lifted up one of the flagstones and showed me the copper grounding rod. Old people rock.)

I just like the angle of this one. One little known secret I take all my pictures in color and then use photo-shop to turn them black and white. Of course this is mostly because I'm too forgetful (read: lazy) to use the B&W setting on my camera...something I'm hoping to change, especially since I've discovered I have a Sepia Tone setting. I foresee more fooling around with the camera.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

O.K. so this doesn't have anything to do with the Chapel, but it is from our outing the weekend before last. The day area we were at has this little homage to Easter Island, which is both incredibly bizarre and awesome all at once. Our state parks need more random wooden heads.
