The Crafty Bits: Knitting Needle Case
Besides cookies and 50 yard line fun on Sunday, I also broke out the sewing machine for a little one on one time. Taken by the need to sew something (I know! How weird IS that?!?) I decided the time had come to upgrade my knitting needles from a plastic aida cloth tube to something a bit more functional...and pretty.
In the time it took me to watch Andy Dufresne connect with Red and escape from Shawshank prison. (I just got the Director's cut on DVD!) I had put together a new roll for my straight needles. The fabrics are left overs from the great craft bag caper of '06 and are from the home interiors line by Weaver Fabrics. I still want to make a roll for my DPN's and a hanging organizer for my circulars, but there is still an acre of fabric left so it shouldn't be a problem. I'm also considering whether or not to make the supplies organizer (which means learning how to deal with zippers!) and a new crochet hook roll. I have a roll in pretty black and plum batiks...but the nerdy interior designer in me wants every thing to be matchy-matchy. That and I kind of made up the crochet roll as I went along so it's a bit wonky to boot. Regardless if I choose, there are at least 4 other potential sewing projects on the horizon.
All rolled up, the stripe on the outside contrasts with the brown liner in my craft bag...this way I'll be able to find the roll with minimal hassle...though it's so long finding it should never be a problem.
Opening up to the world. The inside matches the craft bag liner and interior pocket fabrics.

Ta-da! Happy little needles, all in a row. Note the one square topped bamboo needle, the sole survivor of a Lilly attack.

Super cute and super handy!! I just love that fabric!! I need to get more in gear with some of my stuff!! I have custom labels on the way for my hand bags, so maybe after I get those I will get a little more motivated!
