The Crafty Bits: The Big Blue Afghan
I have a problem or maybe it's more of a confession...a problematic confession? Either (or any)way I have an issue. I have blue yarn. Not some blue yarn, not a few skeins, nothing so easy as a bit of blue yarn. Nope I have a mountain of blue yarn...a file box of nothing except a billion shades of blue. It's not pleasant and it certainly isn't pretty, but there it is. I have a problem hording blue yarn. Apparently a BIG problem hording blue yarn. All of this came to light when I was packing up my craft closet to move and the discovery led to no small amount of laughing on Tim's part. The logical solution would a have been to pack it and find a use for it later. But the stress of moving had me itching for a comfort craft of an easy peasy nature.
Enter Project: Giant Granny Square Afghan. It is hideous, it is a misuse of the art of crochet and should the craft God's catch wind of my little foray away from my MOUNTAIN of other projects I'm sure I'll be severely punished. Especially since the only way to describe this mini-project is ugly, U-G-L-Y. It's just destined to be one very unpretty blue, blue, blue afghan. In my defense, I have incorporated some flecked white, but it's still not helping. I think it's the range of blue. From cornflower to smurf blue, with a hint of navy and heathered blueberry for good measure, even if they are all from the same color family, no one wants to play nicely. It's too bad really, the basic square pattern is nice and simple and if the yarn wasn't creating a crafting train wreck it wouldn't be too bad.

In other news, Lilly and I weeded a good portion of the new yard's landscaping. Today we're a bit sore and worn out...or maybe that's just me...and it maybe more related to the 3 hours of clothes shopping later yesterday afternoon. But really, does it matter?
There were just a few weeds. (Six boxes and three hours worth.)
